First filly to win there in 102 years, according to MSNBC.

"Rags to Riches became the third filly to capture the Belmont — Ruthless took the first running in 1867 and Tanya won in 1905. Only 22 fillies have tried the Belmont, with Rags to Riches the first since Silverbulletday finished seventh in 1999."

My horsey wasn't even entered - Street Sense. That's worrying. I hope Street Sense is all right. I like that horse - he's a straight shooter.

So I guess this means that a filly has a chance at being elected President of the Houynhynhyms.

Oh, turns out he's been sold for fucking. Hope he doesn't find it too tedious. After all, after you've been racing your buds with your favorite jockey on your back, a series of blind dates just doesn't cut it, excitement wise.

roger, you're certainly up to form today.

hmm.

AQ 1103 = A FILLY HAS A CHANCE AT BEING ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE HOUYNHYNHYMS = A LANDMARK IS THE REPRESENTATION OF A WELL KNOWN POINT IN THE MAP.

AQ 303 = HOUYNHYNHYMS = ACCURATE FORECAST = NO PROMISES, BUT... = WISHING ON A STAR.

AQ 593 = PRESIDENT OF THE HOUYNHYNHYMS = BRITISH GOVERNMENT PROVIDED MAP = INTRACTABLE TO MATHEMATICAL MODELS = MAIN BUS SWITCHING UNIT CHECKOUT = THE RIFF THAT COMES OUT OF NOWHERE = THE SADLER'S WELLS BALLET IN HOLLAND = THE WILL IN ITS MOST EXALTED FORM = US COUNTERINSURGENCY PROGRAM.

hard to say so early in the race.

are you watching the Tony Awards mañana?

Roger Gathmann said...

Already the Tonies? What is this? June? Shouldn't I be out looking for a job?

Okay, I'll bite - who are your picks? Although not having seen a ny play this year, I can't really chose. But I'll chose anyway:
Frost/Nixon - this is a political year.
Musicals. Dear God, not Mary Poppins. Fruehlings Erwachen, god damn it!
And continuing with the Frost/N theme, Mr. Dracula as leading man.
Swooshie Kurtz for Heartbreak House.

And the rest I leave in the hands of the Almighty, whose stage productions sorta suck, but who insists, day after day, in putting them on.

Oh, and the odds are 3-1 that Ethan Hawke will attend two sheets to the wind, and crack wise about Paris Hilton.

Free Paris!

oh gosh, i don't know who i want to win. but they always put on a classy show, so i'm just going to enjoy. maybe Patrick will come by & clue us in.

is looking for a job the pin path or the other path? i forgot.

Roger Gathmann said...

The wolf likes that path of pins - beware! But the path of needles, Red Riding Hood's favorite, is the path of the prostitute. Now, myself, I favor the prostitute metaphysically. If Red Riding Hood had been a plain little girl, she would have taken neither path, and never met the wolf.

But she was a brave girl, although perhaps insufficiently griefstricken about her poor old Grannie.

interesting. so you've been with a prostitute. metaphysically.

Roger Gathmann said...

Been with? Who do you take me for, the big bad wolf? Am, North. Am. Except the transubstantiation of my bodily fluids, what there is of them, into cash is not exactly on the Street Sense level. More like jawbreakers for quarters.

Metaphysically speaking.
